When meeting someone for the first time, most people would agree that their smile (or lack of) is the thing they remember most. Unfortunately, dental problems such as cracked/chipped teeth, missing teeth, discolored teeth, can be embarrassing and make people not want to smile. If you have dental issues or you just want whiter or straighter teeth, schedule a consultation with Ammons Dental by Design in Downtown Charleston. We will be happy to meet with you and explore your options.
Dr. Ammons graduated magna cum laude from Clemson University with a bachelor’s in chemical engineering. He then went on to attend the prestigious Medical University of South Carolina School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. After graduation, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, where he focused on surgical placement and restoration of dental implants.
Dental insurance can be quite complicated, so we take that burden off of you.
Once we find out what is and is not covered, we will be able to explain to you what you will be financially responsible for before we proceed with treatment. Believe it or not, many dental insurances do cover cosmetic procedures- especially if they are also restorative.
Many people avoid dentists because they are worried that it will be painful. The staff at our Downtown Charleston clinic understands this. We want you to know that most of the cosmetic dental procedures are minimally invasive and nearly painless.
However, for the more intensive procedures, some of the latest tech improvements and anesthesia can make the procedures easier and safer. We have several options to keep you comfortable during treatment. Of course, if that's not enough, we do offer sedation dentistry - just be sure that you bring someone with you that can drive you home after.
When someone is missing a tooth, the "go-to" treatment option is implants. In addition to replacing a tooth, they also stabilize dentures, bridges, and other dental prostheses. An implant will be surgically inserted into your jawbone. This will stimulate bone growth, causing the bone to fuse around the implant. Once healed, a crown, bridge, or denture will be attached. You can choose between permanent or removable dentures or bridges- both have their advantages and disadvantages.
